Keep your rechargeable, stored-pressure ABC fire extinguishers ready for service with six-year maintenance. This service goes beyond a routine visual inspection by opening the extinguisher and examining its internal components.

What’s included in a six-year maintenance check?

  • Initial inspection: Check the cylinder, pressure gauge, handle, safety pin, hose or nozzle, and operating instructions for damage, corrosion, wear, or missing parts.
  • Emptying and disassembly: Safely depressurize and empty the extinguisher, then remove the valve assembly for internal examination.
  • Internal cylinder inspection: Examine the inside of the cylinder for corrosion, damage, and other conditions that could affect safe operation.
  • Component examination and servicing: Inspect and clean the valve assembly, siphon tube, hose or nozzle, and sealing components. Identify worn or damaged parts that require replacement.
  • Extinguishing agent check: Assess the dry chemical for contamination or caking and determine whether it is suitable for reuse or requires replacement.
  • Reassembly and recharge: Reassemble the extinguisher with the appropriate service components, refill with the correct type and quantity of extinguishing agent, and repressurize according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Final checks: Check for leaks, verify the charge and pressure, and install the safety pin and tamper seal.
  • Service documentation: Apply the appropriate maintenance label, service tag, and verification-of-service collar where required.

Available sizes: 5 lb, 10 lb, and 20 lb rechargeable, stored-pressure ABC fire extinguishers.

Please note: Six-year maintenance is not the same as hydrostatic pressure testing. Service eligibility depends on the extinguisher’s type, condition, service history, and manufacturer’s requirements. Units requiring hydrostatic testing, additional repairs, replacement parts, or replacement extinguishing agent may need additional work. Confirm any additional charges before service.
